New Balance running shoes are great because they offer sizes for wide feet. But according to New Balance's web site, they purposely build their hiking boots narrow. Their instructions are to order one size larger / wider than normal in order to get New Balance hiking boots to fit. We did that: my husband normally wears 11-3E, and we ordered a pair of these boots in 11 1/2-4E. Unfortunately, the boots are still FAR too narrow for his feet. They're closer to a D width than the 4-E on the label. This is the first problem we've had with New Balance footwear being too narrow, but again, according to their web site, this is a deliberate design philosophy. If you have wide feet, we suggest you be very careful about ordering these boots.
